At Whitehall Animal Hospital, we offer state of the art veterinary medical care and are pleased to provide a wide range of surgical services for our patients. Prior to each surgery we perform a complete physical exam to ensure that your pet is healthy enough to undergo anesthesia. At that time we will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the specific procedure, and the post operative care involved. In addition, we recommend pre-anesthetic blood work prior to the procedure to ensure that your pet can tolerate anesthesia. We can run all bloodwork in our state of the art inhouse hematology laboratory and have results within 20 minutes. All patients are monitored with a pulse oximeter and carefully monitored by a registered veterinary technician while under anesthesia.

It is important that our patients experience as little post operative pain as possible. We recommend each patient have cold laser treatment at their surgical site as well as take home pain medications. At times we may prescribe antibiotics as well, especially for dental procedures requiring extractions.

We have experienced surgeons that offer affordable routine surgeries that include spaying and neutering,as well as other soft tissue surgeries in our state of the art surgical suite. We also have a dental area for cleanings and extractions. We recommend brushing your pets teeth at least twice weekly to prevent tartar and plaque buildup.

Surgery can be a source of anxiety and stress for many pet owners so our staff is educated to answer any questions or concerns that arise during pre- or post-operative care. Our staff will contact you when your pet is recovered from anesthesia to let you know how they are doing and when they can be discharged to go home.

For surgical procedures requiring 24 hour care, we will refer you to a Board Certified Veterinary Surgeon.

By offering these services, we can provide the best care for your pet.

Benefits of Spaying and Neutering: For dogs and cats spaying reduces the risk of breast cancer, pyometra (a life threatening infection of the uterus) and unwanted pregnancies. Neutering in dogs reduces the risk of prostate problems, some types of hernias and perianal tumors. In dogs and cats neutering reduces the risk of wandering and potential injury.
